Explosions rocked the capital city of Kyiv throughout the night as Russia launched a massive wave of drone and missile strikes against the Ukraine.
At least eight people were injured and one has died. The Red Cross based in Ukraine has reported that its warehouse of supplies was hit in the assault.
Victory Day Attack
The attack lasted for more than four hours and the missiles were launched shortly after midnight. The Ukrainian military claims to have seen Iranian-made Shahed kamikaze drones swarm across the country.
However, Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv’s city military administration, had this to say: “As at the front, the plans of the aggressor failed.”
This is the fourth attack on Ukraine in just the last eight days, coming the evening before Russia celebrates what it calls Victory Day, where Putin told Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine that the “whole country is praying for them.” He went on to say, “We are proud of the participants of the special military operation. The future of our people depends on you.”

Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, made comments regarding Russia’s holding hostage of the Black Sea grain deal. He said, “In recent days, Russia has once again returned to blocking ships from sailing to Ukrainian ports to pick up grain. A cynical action, that directly results in less food getting to global food markets and to human beings in Africa, in the Middle East and around the world who need that food. The world shouldn’t need to remind Moscow every few weeks to stop using people’s hunger as a weapon in their war against Ukraine.”
At this time, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said that met with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and stated that he expects the EU to bring more sanctions against Russia.
The war between the two countries has lasted for 440 days.
