Tinder Leaves Russia Because of Russo-Ukranian War

Russians say goodbye to popular dating apps in June as Tinder announce they will be leaving the country in the midst of the Russian war with Ukraine.

Many major brands around the world have announced their boycott of Russia when the country’s war with Ukraine sparked in 2022. Some notable brands to pull out early were Coca-Cola, Starbucks, and McDonalds. The latter even said that they are pulling out from Russia for good and selling the stores they have all over the country.

More brands followed suit and the latest is Match Group, the owner of popular dating sites Tinder, Hinge, and Plenty of Fish. Before news of the boycott, shareholders in the company have spoken out about the current situation and that the services they have in Russia will be restricted. Now, the company has announced a full stop in their operations in the country by June 30.

The decision came after the company has resolved to be “committed to protecting human rights,” as they said in their report. As early as March of 2022 the company has said that their European operations was negatively impacted by the war.

Vladimir Putin’s war against Ukraine has escalated to the International Criminal Court and he has an arrest warrant from the United Nations body. As of today, the war is still raging with Ukraine taking on devastating damages.
