Meta-owned Instagram has now revealed five new DM features to help you better connect with friends, making your messaging experience more flexible and enjoyable.
“People connect daily on Instagram through posts and stories, but especially privately through messaging, so we’re excited to be bringing these new messaging features to Instagram,” the company announced in a blogpost on March 4th.
Let’s delve into the new Instagram features.
Message editing
While sending messages on Instagram is very simple, there are times when you might notice a typo or an error, or simply want to modify something after hitting the send button.
Pin chats
You’ll soon have the option to pin up to 3 group chats or 1:1 conversations for quick access in your inbox, whether it’s with your best friends or family. You will just have to simply swipe left or tap and hold on the chat, then select “pin” to move it to the top. You can also easily unpin a chat whenever you want.
Toggle read receipts in DMs
Now, Instagram allows you to choose to turn read receipts on or off, for all of your chats or specific ones.
Save your favourite stickers
You can now save your favourite stickers in DMs for easy access. Press and hold on the sticker you want to save and you will be able to find them at the top next time you go to stickers.
New chat themes
Instagram has announced new chat themes including Love (soon to be animated), Lollipop, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and many more.
