Apple and Google together working closely for the aim of exploiting the Gemini artificial intelligence model for iPhone features.
As per the latest report from Bloomberg, the two American giants have decided to join forces and succeed in establishing themselves in a sector that is becoming more important and competitive day after day and in which there are currently companies clearly advantage.
Google and Apple team up to improve the AI sector
Apple is reportedly looking to license Google’s AI technology so it can introduce AI-based features with the next version of iOS later this year.
It seems that the Cupertino giant has also started discussions with OpenAI to potentially use GPT models on its products.
It is not too surprising if Apple is working hard to find agreements for the use of AI technologies from other companies, as at the moment the pressure on the Cupertino giant in the artificial intelligence sector is quite high, being evidently behind other competitors, such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic and Google.
In particular, Apple’s developer team has recently focused on creating features based on generative artificial intelligence and from this point of view Google Gemini could be of great help.
The Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 is scheduled for June, an event during which Apple will present iOS 18 and announce the first AI features that this version of its operating system will bring with it.
Apple CEO Tim Cook previously announced, “The company will break new ground in generative AI in 2024, and we believe it will unlock transformative opportunities for our users.” The company recently abandoned its decade-long car project to focus on artificial intelligence instead.
As outlined in Gurman’s report, Apple has been conducting trials of its proprietary large language model, internally referred to as Ajax. Additionally, some employees have been experimenting with a rudimentary chatbot named Apple GPT.
