5G connectivity has been a reality for a few years now and is now supported by all latest generation smartphones in a growing number of markets and Google , which has embraced this technology starting with Google Pixel 4a (5G) , continues to periodically update the page official dedicated to the service: following the latest update, the list has now included 38 countries or geographical areas in which the service can be used.
5G connectivity of Google Pixels available in at 38 countries
The page is titled 5G on Pixel and highlights how “Pixel phones work with all major carriers. However, not all Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8, Pixel Fold, Pixel 7a, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6, Pixel 5a (5G), Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) phones support all 5G networks.” In short, to avoid unpleasant surprises, the Mountain View giant invites you to consult the official list, warning that “The 5G networks of operators not listed may not be compatible with Pixel phones”.
As you can see from the following images, there are now 38 countries in which there are operators with 5G networks compatible with a Pixel 4a (5G) phone or later versions . As of December 2023, the total stood at 31 and all the new additions are in the Old Continent: Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein and Slovakia. Narrowing the field to just the Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro, the latest generation networks are officially usable in only 20 of the countries listed. In short, there is still a lot of work to do and Google must get busy with tests and certifications.
Naturally, ours is also among the countries on the list: in Italy , Google Pixel smartphones can officially be used in 5G on the networks of the following operators: Iliad, TIM, Vodafone, WINDTRE and Fastweb.
