BMW has been committing to release a new class of high-tech vehicles with significantly improved efficiency for the last two years by now. Recently, the German automaker unveiled its “Vision Neue Klasse” for the very first time. This brings an adequate idea of what the BMW brand will look like in the future.
As mentioned by CEO Oliver Zipse, BMW’s three-step plan that has been executed from March 2021 is to transform the automaker in the wake of the electric era.
Speaking the first phase consists of pioneering Project “i”. Shifting to electric requires series production with aligned models, especially plug-in hybrids such as the i3 and i8.
In the second phase, the automaker starts to offer all-electric powertrain options. This is in regard to some of its most demanding segments, with the i4, i5, i7, and more. And this is the time, the automaker is giving us a catch into its third phase with the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. The term “Neue Klasse” is used, which indicates BMW’s small, sporty cars that were released in the 1960s era. And it essentially helped carve out a new segment for the brand.
Frank Weber, a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Development, said:
With the Neue Klasse, we have embarked on the biggest investment in the company’s history. We are not just writing the next chapter of BMW; we’re writing a whole new book. That’s why the Neue Klasse will certainly impact all model generations.
Moving ahead, as per the information, the new class of vehicles is set to debut in 2025. Additionally, it will ride on an exceptionally improved EV platform crafted to frame the brand’s future. According to BMW, the automaker says the new class will feature “30% more range, 30% faster charging, and a 25% overall improvement in vehicle efficiency.”

The Neue Klasse models will be packed with the modern next generation of BMW iDrive. The Interaction with the car will happen via BMW Panoramic Vision, the central display, and buttons placed on the steering wheel. Apart from that, several analog controls are been removed.
