Google is gearing up to introduce a useful feature that will allow Android users to transfer eSIM across Android phones, by only using QR codes. This feature was first revealed at this year’s MWC in Barcelona. For your information, the latest Android 14 beta build has started to show this feature.
Currently, the transfer of eSIM across devices takes around an hour to complete to process and also needs approval from cellular providers in some cases.
eSIM Transfer using QR Codes coming soon for Android
According to the screenshot shared by Twitter user AssembleDebug, the latest beta versions of Android 14 appear to have an eSIM transfer feature using QR codes. This option will be available while setting up a new phone, to ensure seamless connectivity transfer from one Android to another.
This feature may be available for all users on the stable Android 14 version which is about to release soon. Android developer and researcher Mishaal Rahman also spotted eSIM transfer profiles in some beta builds of Android in January.
