It seems that Tesla could have its first opponent make its appearance in India before it concludes with its plan of action. Fisker, an electric vehicle-making startup established in the United States has stated that it will enter into the Indian market in the next couple of months. They debut with their flagship Ocean electric SUV. While the EV is considered to be the direct rival to the Tesla Model Y in markets. As per the information, after it launched in the market, Fisker will only sell the imported limited edition of the electric SUV.
Previously Fisker was anticipated to launch in India this month. However, the company has now assured us that it will surely arrive in September. Also, as per the company statement, it will initially sell only 100 units of the Ocean electric SUV for a start. The US-based EV maker has a plan to make it locally in the next few years. While it will start to give the deliveries of the vehicle in India from the fourth quarter of the year.
Indian Variant Ocean Extreme Vigyan Price
The forthcoming Fisker electric SUV will be named Ocean Extreme Vigyan. And the limited units will come with a price range as per the European market. Talking about the price then this electric SUV will cost 69,950 euros. In Indian rupees, it comes to around 65 lakhs without taxes. On the other hand, the price of the electric SUV starts from $37,499 (about ₹ 31 lakhs) in the United States. Also, the Indian unit of the Fisker Ocean SUVs will be produced in Austria.
Electric SUV Variants
The company claims the promising range of the Fisker Ocean Extreme SUV which is 563 km in single charge. Whereas its Ocean Ultra promises to deliver a 547 km range. The SUV is debut in three different variants. Extreme and Ultra are high-range models that utilize nickel-based batteries. The base variant Ocean Sport uses iron-based battery chemistry. And it offers to deliver a 402 km range on a single charge.
The vehicle is equipped with all-wheel drive as a standard feature. When it comes to styling the SUVs come with stylish designs and a lot of different features. Ocean Extreme, the top variant is packed with a solar roof that is said to generate ample power for 3,218 km of driving every year. It is also packed with Hollywood Mode which significantly converts the 17.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system from landscape to portrait orientation.
The company also assured that its Ocean range of SUVs will able to power the home in the event of urgency and can charge other electric vehicles too.
