Gboard is undoubtedly among the most popular products of the Mountain View giant Google and among those that the Google team cares about most and this is also confirmed by the constant work of its developers aimed at improving the keyboard, through the introduction of new functions and the resolution of bugs found.
In the past few hours the popular leaker Mishaal Rahman shared some interesting details on functionality that should soon be made available to all users: we are referring to support for handwriting with a stylus pen.
A handy new feature coming to Gboard
According to what was explained by the leaker, this feature allows users to write in text fields and use gestures to select, insert, delete, join words or add a new line.
Users will also be able to rely on a floating toolbar for quick access to voice input, notes, smilies, translation and settings.
Rahman specifies that at the moment this functionality may not be available to everyone, adding that another of his contacts with a Google Pixel Tablet and a stylus pen USI 2.0 noticed that, by connecting this accessory, the system shows a message “the handwriting model with stylus is being downloaded” but handwriting does not work.
It seems that the Mountain View giant has already started the release of this functionality, found in the 13.7 beta version of Gboard on various tablets with Android 14.
Available editing actions include the ability to delete text (a letter, word, or phrase), select (drawing a circle around the text), draw a cursor or arrow, draw a line “|” to insert a space or join the text before and after and draw downwards to wrap.
