Google recently introduced the new home screen and scanner redesign last week. All Google Workspace users and personal Google Accounts as the new features begin rolling out in full.
Google Drive gets new UI
The Google Drive update includes personalized suggestions based on recent activity and calendar events and filter buttons that speed up file searches by allowing you to filter results by type, people, modification date or location.
The new Google Drive interface adopts a more elegant design in line with Google’s Material Design 3 guidelines, improving the user experience.
By default users will be directed to “Home”, but in the banner, there is the option to switch to “My Drive” which will then become the default page.
Google Drive gets a new scanner on Android and iOS
Google has introduced improvements to the Google Drive scanner on Android and iOS devices, adding automatic capture, a Pixel camera viewfinder for precise document detection, import options from the camera roll and a button that speeds up the launch of the scan.
The new Google Drive homepage and document scanner are available to all Google Workspace customers and personal Google Accounts. The new features are currently being released and should reach all users within a few days.
Google has now introduced a new Camera button to the Drive App, which enables users to scan documents within the app. With the help of this feature, iPhone users can easily scan documents present in their Google’s cloud storage. Check the steps below on how to scan documents:
- Open the Google Drive app on your iPhone.
- Then, tap on the “+” icon present in the right bottom corner of your iPhone.
- Now, select “Scan” which will direct you to the iPhone camera.
- Now, scan the document by placing it in front of the camera.
- Click the picture of the document.
- Then, it will be scanned and you can set the name of the document to save it in your Google Drive.
