Google has now officially confirmed that real-time location sharing in Maps is now available for Android and iOS. Google Maps allows you to share your live location for up to 1 day, or even indefinitely. You can also change the time interval between 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and 45 minutes, followed by 1 hour, 2 hours, etc.
How To Share Live Location on Google Maps on Android and iOS
- All you need to open the Google Maps app, and tap on your profile picture icon.
- Select ‘Location sharing’, and then tap on the Share location button.
- Select the time interval. Note that if you set the timing to ‘Until you turn this off’, you may notice an increased battery consumption on your device.
- Select the contact with whom you wish you share the location. You can also share a link to the same on third-party messaging apps like WhatsApp.
- Your shared contact will then be able to see your live location in the Google Maps app on their respective device.
