Google Maps is one of the most well-known, appreciated and used applications by users among those offered by the Mountain View giant, the software dedicated to navigation can be used both from smartphones and through the infotainment systems mounted on today’s cars.
The app in question receives particular attention from the company, which is why the dedicated team of developers is constantly busy implementing new features; for example, we recently saw some possible changes that could be introduced over the next year.
According to the latest report from MySmartPrice, it seems that a new feature has emerged for Google Maps which, although initially geographically limited, could be adopted more widely in the future.
Google Maps will report the location of speed limiters
The news comes from India, more precisely from the city of Pune where the PMC (Pune Municipal Corporation) has announced its intention to share with Google Maps the exact position of all speed limiters present in the municipal territory; the aim is to provide a further tool to citizens who will thus be able to see their safety increased by being notified in time.
According to what has been shared, the city of Pune is aware of how the majority of citizens use Google ‘s navigation software , for this reason a strategy has been planned that allows to limit accidents caused by the speed limiters in question: often in fact these are not easily identifiable while driving and, on several occasions, have been the cause of several road accidents.
Although not many details are known at the moment, the PMC has decided to share the exact position of every single speed limiter in the city with Google Maps, so that the application can warn users in time (presumably in a similar way to what currently happens due to other circumstances) which would thus allow them to slow down in complete safety.
