Google is widely believed to be working on the successor to the Pixel Fold, dubbed the Pixel Fold 2. The foldable phone is expected to debut later this year, probably in May at the I/O 2024 conference or in October at the Pixel launch event.
The Pixel Fold 2 foldable phone is said to be launched with a large 8.02-inch inner folding display, according to a post on X by Ross Young (CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants). In comparison, the original Pixel Fold shipped with a 7.6-inch folding screen. The foldable is tipped to measure a 6.29-inch cover screen diagonally. While the original screen has a 5.8-inch outer screen.
Ross says the panel production for the Pixel Fold 2 will begin in April, which could imply a launch in May.
Going by the leak, the Pixel Fold 2’s cover screen is longer and narrower than the original fold. This might eliminate the original issues with apps opening in landscape mode when unfolding.
The Google Pixel Fold 2 is rumoured to skip the Tensor G3, and instead feature the yet-to-be-announced Tensor G4 chipset.
