Google’s latest Pixel Tablet offers support for USI 2.0, the standard that allows you to use a stylus on multiple devices even without pairing. What you don’t know is that support for the handwriting function with the Gboard keyboard should soon be introduced.
Google Pixel Tablet to get handwriting support
According to the report from popular X tipster Mishaal Rahman, the new handwriting work is coming soon for Google Pixel tablet. After connecting a stylus (or stylus, if you prefer) to the tablet, the system asks you to select a default app for notes and whether to activate the “Write in text fields” field: the latter opens new Gboard settings for handwriting, where you can change the speed of the handwriting or the width of the stroke.
Stylus handwriting support is nearly ready to go live on the Pixel Tablet!
The Pixel Tablet, if you aren’t aware, supports USI 2.0 styli. When you connect one to the tablet, you’ll get the option to select a “default notes app” and “write in text fields”.

As per the source these Gboard editing settings for handwriting are present, but do not currently work. Some necessary libraries might be missing, or some hidden flags need to be turned on (it wouldn’t be the first time). In any case, all this could indicate that the functionality is close to the actual launch, more than previously thought.
