Apple has recently launched the 120Hz ProMotion display panels with the iPhone 14 Pro series in 2022. Now, a new report by The Elec claims that the entire iPhone 17 lineup will feature ProMotion displays.
iPhone 17 to get a 120Hz Display
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus are expected to launch in September 2025 and will be the first non-Pro models to feature LTPO display panels.
For those unaware, the LTPO display panels enable dynamic refresh rate and allow the display to refresh in the 1Hz to 120Hz range depending on the task. In always-on-display mode, the LTPO displays usually function at a very low refresh rate, such as 1Hz, to save as much power as possible.
It is also suggested that Apple could source the LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) panel from BOE for the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus. Currently, this is done by LG.
