Instances of smartphones exploding are rapidly increasing, with a majority of recent cases typically affecting budget-friendly Android devices. Now, a new incident has emerged from Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, revealing that an iPhone purportedly detonated within the pocket of a local entrepreneur.
According to the information, the specific model of the iPhone remains undisclosed. Notably, this explosion seems to have taken place while the individual was seated within the confines of his residence, devoid of any apparent external factors triggering the event.
iPhone explodes inside man’s pocket
According to a report by TOI, Prem Raj Singh, a 47-year-old real estate businessman from Aligarh said his phone exploded while it was inside his pocket. He first felt the phone getting hot, and then smoke started coming out of it, the report added. Due to the explosion, Singh suffered burn injuries on his left thigh and thumb for which, he was taken to a hospital.
“I took it out of my pocket and it exploded with a loud sound following which it broke into two pieces,” TOI quoted him as saying. There was no external play here like the phone possibly plugged into a charger or the phone heating up due to prolonged use.
