Various automakers including Subaru and Lexus will be showcased at the Japan Mobility Show at the end of this month. Here they will also reveal their vision for the future. It is to be noted that Japanese automakers appear few of the slow walker when it comes to transition to electric vehicles, whereby their sales continue to hit the market.
Under the hood of parent company Toyota, Lexus debuted its first EV. This is an RZ electric SUV, being in the form of a 2023 model. Talking about numbers, in August, both Lexus and Toyota combined sold 11,880 electric vehicles globally.
Lexus trusts that it will have more success with its next-gen EVs. That features longer ranges and quick charging at less cost. As per the automaker, future electric cars will equipped with “next-generation battery” tech and a bundle of other design and production upgrades.
Toyota highlights its battery roadmap plans at a tech briefing. Freshly, it brings us a look at its future EV production line. This depicts its giga casting technology, self-propelled production lines, and robots to move finished vehicles respectively.
Lexus and Subaru promote their new electric vehicles
In addition to this, Lexus has been advertising its electric sports car past year. And it will appear at the Japan Mobility Show. The automaker again released another teaser recently, showcasing the EVs awaited fastback.
According to new Lexus brand boss Takashi Watanabe, the automaker will kick off Toyota’s next-gen EV offensive. Further, he summed up, that Lexus will “humbly look at and learn from” Tesla’s success.
Moving ahead, Subaru, which is the other Japanese automaker, is teasing its new electric sports concept. It will also showcase its face at the auto show later this month. To be noted, Subaru also has ties to Toyota. Its first EV, the Suburu Solterra, was only built by Toyota. It is driven on the same e-TNGA platform that was used by the Toyota bZ4X electric SUV.
