LG Electronics opened its first electric vehicle charging pile factory in the United States, officially entering the North American market.
LG said in a statement that the new factory in Fort Worth, Texas, covers an area of 100,000 square feet (approximately 9,290 square meters) and can produce 12,000 charging piles per year.
According to reports, this factory currently mainly manufactures relatively low-end 11kW home slow charging piles (SAE J1772 connector), but LG Electronics plans to launch a 175kW vertical DC fast charging pile in the spring.
In addition, LG also said that it will launch a 350kW ultra-fast DC charging pile later this year and provide CCS and Tesla NACS connectors. According to reports, this charging pile will be equipped with an outdoor LCD touch screen, which can be used to “generate additional revenue through advertising sales.”
LG New Energy, a subsidiary of LG Group, is also actively expanding its North American business. Following the results of electric vehicle battery production, it is also accelerating its energy storage system (ESS) business.
According to data disclosed by South Korea’s financial regulatory agency, LG New Energy’s energy storage solution company LG Energy Solution Vertech’s sales in the first to third quarter of 2023 were 1.097 trillion won , a year-on-year increase of 289%.
