NIO’s most recent model that going to convert the automakers to the second generation platform, the EC6. Before its official launch, which is scheduled for September, the vehicle got spotted. NIO’s CEO, William Li, has thoughts that the new EC6 “will be dominating the major market share” in its segment by the time the vehicle hits the roads.
Talking about the company’s first-gen EC6, which is a five-seater premium electric SUV. The EV was unveiled in Dec 2019, by having its deliveries starting in 2020. In the respective year, the EC6 had its 2505 units sold in December 2020. In the interim, NIO is transitioning its lineup to its newest Nt 2.0 EV platform. This is powered by an NIO Adam Supercomputer with four Nvidia DRIVE Orin system-on-chips (SoCs), in order to enable advanced ADAS.
Moving ahead, with the all-new EC6 that going to launch in September. NIO will tend to convert all of its eight models to its next-gen NT 2.0 platform. The EV maker has been launching new models very rapidly. Starts with the EC7 and new ES8 in December, at NIO Day 2022.
NIO EC6 electric coupe SUV
Now, images of the new EC6 are starting to surface, it depicts a fresh look, as we expect from the maker. Speaking about its dimensions, the NIO’s new electric coupe SUV will be 4,849 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,697 mm tall which comes along with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. This is tentatively the same as the old model.
The NT 2.0 EC6 will be offered in NIO’s standard 75 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh battery options. It will powered by twin electric motors that bring up to 482 hp output. While its prices are yet to be disclosed.
As per NIO’s CEO Li with respect to the company’s Q2 earnings call it will take some time to speed up the deliveries, “But within its own segment, it will be dominating the major market share.”
Meanwhile, a new model from NIO’s “Alps” mass-market EV brand was also seen earlier this month. This is expected to compete with Volkswagen as well as Toyota within the price bracket of $30,000 to $50,000 respectively.
