The German automaker is well renowned for its high-performance car history. Starts from the 911 GT2 to the Carrera GTS. This creates the brand as we are aware of it today. Although, with time, the industry is changing drastically. And now, the EV era has started. Therefore, in order to compete and to maintain the performance leadership. Porsche has introduced its first all-electric car in 2019, the Taycan.
In addition to this, the Porsche Taycan GTS sedan and GTS Sport Turismo were released in November 2021. It features the 93.4 kWh Performance Battery Plus, along with special GTS brand design features, and tuned suspension and performance equipment. The all-electric sports sedan has two PSM electric motors one on each axle, combined to deliver over 590 hp. By using launch control, the Tycan GTS can accelerate between 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
Chinese EVs and Porsche Taycan drag race
In the interim, China is the world’s largest EV market responsible for over 60% of all global electric car sales earlier this year.
Chinese automakers in the region such as NIO and Xpeng are leading among some of the industry’s top technologically advanced EVs. Since these are packed with various modern features, therefore attract users both at local and abroad markets.
Talking about the company’s first EV model, the HiPhi X electric SUV, given deliveries in China from June 2021. Also, its second, the HiPhi Z luxury GT known as the Chinese variant of the Porsche Taycan EV, began production last year.
The HiPhi X competes directly with the BMW iX M60. Whereas, the HiPhi Z has targeted the Porsche Taycan GTS. The HiPhi Z is equipped with the industry’s most powerful (672 hp). This has been followed by the BMW iX M60 (619 hp). On the other hand, both Porsche Taycan GTS and HiPhi X are housed with 598 hp.
