It has been reported that American automaker Tesla achieved a 2 million Cybertruck reservation before its production launch. At first instance, some people did not like Cybertruck’s polarized design. While, at the same time, it is loved by many. The same is depicted by its huge number of booking responses for the truck.
At the time of its premiere which was held in 2019, there were no critics or issues followed by its unbreakable window demonstration failure. While this helps to create a lot of attention. The CEO, Musk has significantly got over 250,000 reservations for the Cybertruck within a week of unveiling the vehicle.
Talking about Tesla’s reservation, as received an immense response at the time of unveiling but afterwards things taper off. Although, this is not the case with the Cybertruck. As per some sources, even during a pandemic, Tesla stores were getting hundreds of Cybertruck reservations per week. Also, its pre-order also enabled boosted sales of other Tesla vehicles.
By 2021, a crowdsourced Cybertruck reservation tally demonstrated the pre-orders at over 1 million units. In addition to this, Tesla is making a reservation on behalf of a $100 refundable deposit to “reserve” the Cybertruck. This comes with a 20% take rate, which significantly makes it, one of the best-selling pickups globally. The reservation also demonstrates that the majority of the potential buyers would be interested in opting for dual and tri-motor versions of the electric pickup truck.
It’s also interesting to observe that those reservations are coming without even revelation of the final price as well the configurations which Tesla won’t share until a forthcoming delivery event.
