Toyota at its new BEV factory launch promises that its next-generation electric vehicles will deliver longer-range as well as faster charging at a lower price. Also affirmed by the automaker that its new EVs will make a debut by 2026, and have approx 500 miles of range.
Following its technical briefing in June, the company disclosed its many new innovations. It comprises of modern battery plans, enhanced in aerodynamics, and various manufacturing upgrades. The automaker revealed its future plan at the launch of its BEV factory. The unit is not an actual plant but rather “an organization dedicated to battery EVs,” that production of Toyota’s new EVs will begin in 2026.
Toyota also unveiled four next-gen batteries, which also include advances in liquid and solid-state electrolytes. Out of these, the first one is Toyota’s Performance lithium-ion battery, which feature new EVs by 2026. The same provides an approx 500-mile cruising range.
As compared to the company’s first electric model, the bZ4X featured the Performance battery. At the same time, it will cost 20% less, along with fast charging in 20 minutes or less.
The second popularisation Lithium Iron Phosphate battery is due out in 2026 or 2027. This mainly focuses on affordability. In addition to this, Toyota also mentions the low-cost battery will substantially enhance the cruising range by 20%, simultaneously bringing down the costs by 40%.

Moving ahead, the automaker is currently focused on a high-performance battery that will further increase the cruising range to over 620 miles
Toyota reveals that it has achieved a “breakthrough” with solid-state batteries. It proves to be a “potential game-changer for BEVs.” The motive is to deploy them for commercial use by 2027-2028. It comes with great capabilities of providing an estimated 620-mile range and ultrafast charging in under 10 minutes. Additionally, the automaker also gave a preview of further solid-state development, which intended to deliver over the 745-mile range.
