Volvo complete electric vehicles are trending since its sales increased by double digits almost in every region in September. In the US alone, its EV sales rose by 631% as it gradually adopted the flow.
“There is no long-term future for cars with an internal combustion engine,” said Henrick Green, Volvo’s chief tech officer, in March 2021.
Being the first legacy automaker to commit to delivering an all-electric future by 2030, it starts to show the results. Volvo’s all-electric vehicle sales increased by 52% in September. While the Swedish automaker successfully sold 9,205 EVs last month globally. And that makes it responsible for 15% of its total sales.
The growth was noticed from all the markets, comprising Europe (+23%), China (+23%), the US (+631%), and other markets (+155%). The Swedish automaker has sold over 80,600 EVs this year, which records an up of 149% from 2022. Also, its EV lineup starts with the C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge. Notably, this expanded at a fast pace during the past months.
Volvo’s new EVs rolling out
Moving ahead, Volvo launched the flagship EC90 last November. This is a large seven-seater electric SUV with up to 300 miles of range. As per the automaker, the well-equipped model will cost under $80,000.
Besides, Volvo has launched its smallest and one of the most affordable electric SUVs, the EX30 this year. Its cost will start at $36,245 with up to 275 miles range. Comapny’s small electric SUV is anticipated to be a game changer for Volvo. And it focuses on a “completely different demographic” in younger buyers. At the same time, the automaker is also teasing its first electric minivan. It showcases the EX90 before its global debut scheduled on November 12.
Thereby Volvo is “putting in place important building blocks for its next growth phase.” The company targeting this with its highly anticipated EVs in new segments, a battery plant under construction, and more on the way. Volvo aims to raise its sales share with respect to fully electric cars to 50% by 2025. Since it rigorously works to become an all-electric automaker by the end of the decade.
