WhatsApp has recently announced via the beta channel, that the voice messages that can be viewed only once have finally arrived within stable WhatsApp. Now it is finally rolling out.
WhatsApp announces voice messages that can only be viewed once
To add an extra layer of privacy to your messages, in 2021 we introduced View Once for photos and videos. Today we are happy to announce that you can now send voice messages that will no longer be visible after you listen to them. When you share sensitive information with a voice message, like when you read your credit card information to a friend or plan a surprise, you can now do so with complete peace of mind. As already happens with photos and videos that can be viewed once, voice messages that can be viewed once are marked with an icon that indicates “only once”. As with all your personal messages, WhatsApp protects voice messages with end-to-end encryption by default, and View Once is just another example of our ongoing privacy innovation. In the next few days we will implement voice messages viewable once worldwide. We are waiting for your feedback! Find out more about how they work here.
As stated in the press release, voice messages that can be viewed only once work exactly like text messages, photos and videos that can only be viewed once, therefore they are also marked by the same icon; their peculiarity therefore is that once heard they disappear from the conversation so that they cannot be heard again, not even a second time.
