Google has ‘accidentally’ confirmed the launch of the Google Pixel 8a smartphone in a support post. The smartphone has been mentioned on one of the company’s support pages, thus indicating that it will launch soon.
A Google employee replied to a post on IssueTracker questioning the absence of the battery stats menu after the March 2024 update for Pixel smartphones. The feature was introduced with the Android 14 QPR1 update for Pixel smartphones.
The Google employee revealed that the feature will only be available with Pixel 8a and above smartphones.
Google Pixel 8a specifications (expected)
- Display: The Pixel 8a could sport a 6.1-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a punch-hole cutout.
- Processor: The Pixel phone could be powered by the in-house Tensor G3 SoC with Mali-G715 GPU and Titan G2 security chip.
- Memory: There could be 8GB RAM and probably 128GB/256GB storage options.
- Software: Android 14 and Pixel UI.
- Dimensions: 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9mm
- Battery: Possibly a 5,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support.
The battery stats menu revealed the manufacturing date of the device and cycle counts on the Pixel smartphones. With this, Google also confirms the feature that will debut with the forthcoming smartphone.
Google is also expected to incorporate more features, including battery health status, into the battery stats menu in the future.
