Google is gearing up to improve its ad system on Android. Recently, the Pixel phone maker has improved its ad system on Google Chrome as well. The latest change will allow apps to show users relevant ads more privately. Currently, the Android’s new ad privacy settings are not yet widely available but these settings are implemented through Google Play Services.
The beta program on Android started earlier this year and recently the Mountain View giant started inviting more users to take part with the new ad privacy settings.
Privacy Sandbox continues to increase on Android
The Google team has been informing Android users about new ad privacy features. The latest notification showcased that users now have more control over the ads they see while browsing, which helps protect their identity.
Here’s how it works: Android pays attention to the things you are interested in, based on the apps you’ve used recently. The apps you use can figure out what you like. Then, these apps can ask for this information to show you personalized ads. But don’t worry, users can decide which topics and apps are allowed to show them ads.
Privacy Sandbox works without using cross-app and device identifiers and users’ interests are saved on the device.
With Android 13 on Google Pixel devices, the new ad privacy features are available in the Settings menu, in the section dedicated to Security and privacy, within a special Ads tab. Here users will have the possibility to activate or deactivate Ad topics (ads based on topics), App-suggested ads (ads suggested by applications) and Ad measurement (the possibility for advertisers to request information from Android help them measure the effectiveness of their ads).
