Google Maps and Search integrates social media posts into company profiles. The update is aimed at providing consumers with a richer experience by showing businesses’ online activity combined with key information such as contact details and reviews. This feature is currently available in select territories and may not be accessible to all business profiles.
How social media links are handled by Google Maps and Search
To use this new feature, businesses have the ability to manage which social media posts users can see on Google Maps and Search. Online platforms that offer this connection are Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Google also highlighted the importance of using specific formats for social media links to ensure proper functioning. For example, a link to Facebook would be set up like this: “ https://www.facebook.com/{username} ”. A possible link to Instagram also follows the same format: “ https://www.instagram.com/{username} ”.
There are no particular difficulties regarding the procedure for adding, modifying or removing social media links. Once you enter the business profile, you need to go to the “ Edit Profile ” section, click on “ Business Information ” and select “ Contacts”. Once you’re in there, just open “ Social Profiles ” to add, edit or remove any links. Additionally, Google may automatically add social media links for certain business profiles it deems appropriate.
