With the debut of the all-new EV5s, we finally came to know the starting price of the compact electric SUV. The factor of surprise here is that the Kia EV5 is much cheaper than expected.
The EV5 will have a starting price of roughly $22,000. The information was revealed by Kia’s Chinese joint venture recently on Tuesday. This will be available from November 17 in China.
Kia announced its new compact electric SUV recently at the Chengdu Motor Show. The automaker validates that the EV5 “brings a new era of electric mobility to the compact SUV sector to meet the needs of millennial families.” The vehicle depicts a new “Opposites United” design theme with a striking, aggressive stance.
All at once, the very foremost thing one can realize is Kia’s new “Tiger Face” grille up front with “Star Map Lighting” formed by the daytime running lights. The same substantially replaces its signature “Tiger Nose.”
With the enhancement in the pushed-back D-pillars, Kia increases the interior space with versatility. Also, the rear bench can fold entirely flat in order to assist the additional cargo space.
Kia found millennials by taking the interior of their electric SUV an extra space to live in instead of having just a means of transportation. Because of this reason, Kia mentions the EV5’s interior closely resembles a “home lounge than a traditional car cabin.”
At 4,615 mm long, 1,875 mm wide, and 1,715 mm tall. The EV5 is focusing squarely on Tesla’s Model Y in China. As per the local reports, it is assumed that the Kia EV5 comes with a starting price tag of around $40,000 or more cheaper than that.
