“All My Children”
Initially, Consuelos was a dancer with the Suncoast Calendar Men when he got a role in the soap opera All My Children in 1995. He portrayed the role of Mateo Santos in the soap opera. It was during this time that he came across his on-screen love interest, Kelly Ripa. They both fell in love with each other and secretly got married in Las Vegas in May 1996.
Consuelos recalled upon meeting Ripa for the first time on set: “My first impression of my wife was – she was obviously extremely beautiful — but she was really funny, really intelligent, really quick. I realized that if I were ever to get into an argument with her, I would lose every single time.”
In 2002, Ripa became a host of Live! With Regis and Kelly after having taken over for Kathie Lee Gifford. The talk show was later called Live! with Kelly, and subsequently as Live! With Kelly and Michael and even later became “Live with Kelly and Ryan.” Consuelos was a regular guest co-host.
