Sony has officially announced a piece of good news for all its PS5 users. Yes, you read that right, Sony sold more than 40 million PlayStation 5 units globally. This gaming console was introduced in back November 2020 and in the fiscal quarter on September 30, 2022, the company had sold 25 million PS5 units. Now, the company has finally achieved their goal. Official Statement
According to the statement from Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), the brand initially faced supply chain issues shortly after the launch mainly because of COVID-19-induced issues. The CEO says the PS5 is now “well-stocked” and the brand is “seeing that pent-up demand finally being met.” The top executive said that there are over 2,500+ games available for the PS5 now, including launches like Diablo IV, Final Fantasy XVI, and Street Fighter 6.
He also shared the list of the total top 40 games that have been voted for by PlayStation players.
Ryan says that a great addition to the PS5 generation has been a range of accessories. “Over the past two and a half years we have unveiled new ways gamers can customise the experience and bring exciting colours into their homes. We developed a range of colours for the DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console covers. These accessories have proven really popular as players want their PS5 to reflect their taste,” said Ryan.
In PS5 Ray Tracing brings new levels of realism with natural shadows and reflections in supported PS5 games. With an HDR TV, supported PS5 games pop with an unbelievable range of colours. Smooth and fluid high-frame-rate gameplay at up to 120fps for compatible games, with support for 120Hz output on 4K displays.
Here’s a tip if you are upgrading from a PS4
After reading this milestone news and if you are looking to upgrade your PS4 then you might want to transfer games, settings, and other files to your new console.
Once you start, connected both consoles side by side and turn on an Ethernet cable to connect them (you can use Wi-Fi, but it will take longer).
When you’re ready, go to Settings on the PS5, then System > System Software. Choose Data Transfer, Continue, and pick your PS4. When Prepare for Data Transfer pops up, you need to hold down the power button on the PS4 for a few seconds until it beeps. Pick what you want to move over and choose Start Transfer.
