The first batch of unmanned patrol vehicles approved for road testing in China started to hit the road in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone (Beijing Yizhuang).
Key Details
According to the deployment, the Economic Development Zone Safety Construction Office, together with the Municipal Autonomous Driving Office and the Daxing Branch of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, conducted research and promotion, and relied on the Economic Development Zone Patrol Brigade to form the “Economic Development Zone Unmanned Mobile Patrol Publicity and Prevention Vehicle Unit “.
There are 15 unmanned patrol vehicles in this batch, independently developed by Neolithic Company. They are on duty 24 hours a day in many densely populated and key places such as parks, subway stations, and commercial plazas within the 60 square kilometers of the demonstration area, and are responsible for patrol prevention and control. , large-scale event security, publicity and warning, emergency rescue and other tasks .
According to Zhang Weiling, Neolithic Partner and Senior Vice President, these unmanned patrol vehicles have L4 autonomous driving technology, redundant safety protection, and have functions such as regional control, one-click help, patrol duty, law promotion, and emergency command . These vehicles have 360° multi-sensor fusion perception with a detection range of 120 meters.
They are equipped with the company’s self-developed Neowise computing platform, which can provide 254TOPS computing power and can calculate and respond in real time based on road conditions.
In September 2020, Beijing officially established the world’s first network-connected and cloud-controlled high-level autonomous driving demonstration zone. The demonstration area coordinates various high-quality element resources such as “vehicles, roads, clouds, networks, and maps” and aims at the large-scale operation of high-level autonomous vehicles above L4.
