WhatsApp is set to simplify the process of sharing high-definition (HD) media for its users, offering a more convenient experience when sending photos and videos. Previously, users had to manually tap on the HD button to share media in higher quality. Now, a new feature in the WhatsApp Beta version for Android promises to streamline this process.
WhatsApp Update
The latest update, spotted by WABetaInfo, introduces the option for users to set their default media quality for sharing. This means that instead of manually selecting the quality each time, users can now pre-set their preferred upload quality—whether standard or HD. This feature is currently available in the beta version 2.24.7.17 and is expected to roll out to general users soon.
To access this feature, users need to update their WhatsApp to the latest beta version and follow a few simple steps:
- Open WhatsApp beta on your phone.
- Click on the three-dot icon in the top left corner.
- Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Click on Storage and Data.
- Choose Media Upload Quality and enable the desired quality.
The standard quality option compresses file resolution for quicker sharing, while the HD quality sends larger files for better visual quality, albeit with a slower sending speed. It’s important to note that not all media formats support HD quality at the moment; only high-resolution media can take advantage of this feature.
This update aims to enhance the user experience by eliminating the extra step of manually selecting HD quality for each media upload. It grants users the flexibility to tailor their media-sharing preferences according to their needs, whether prioritizing speed or quality.
In addition to this Android update, WhatsApp has also introduced new video playback gestures for iOS users. Now, iOS users can skip forward or rewind WhatsApp video messages by simply double-tapping the edge of the display, providing a more intuitive way to navigate through video content. Previously, users had to manually drag the video playback slider to rewind or fast forward.
These updates underscore WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user experience and making media sharing more accessible and efficient for its global user base.
