Another interesting piece of information with respect to the Tesla Cybertruck is that it is being teased as a “next-gen police vehicle.” This has been entitled by former Tesla board member and Oracle founder, Larry Ellison.
A few time back, Larry Ellison, a big Tesla shareholder, was in the position of the automaker’s board of directors. Whereas, the disclosure came to light while the Oracle founder was giving a keynote address at the company’s CloudWorld 2023 conference recently. Whereby, it reveals some interesting comments regarding the Tesla Cybertruck.
As the CTO and executive chair were talking about with respect to software solutions for law enforcement. This is more specific for police vehicles. While speaking he introduced what he called Oracle’s “next-generation police vehicle” with the picture of a Cybertruck given below.
Ellison said, Our next-generation police car is coming out very soon. It’s my favorite police car. It’s my favorite car, actually. It’s Elon’s favorite car. It’s incredible. I know too much about it, some still to be disclosed, but amongst other things, it’s incredibly safe, very fast, it’s got a stainless steel body.
Additionally, the Oracle executive seemed to be very serious about the company implementing its technology in order to make the Tesla Cybertruck a law enforcement vehicle. On that, he said that they potentially think of using the existing screen and cameras inside the vehicle. This is to deploy their software solutions.
As mentioned by Ellison, they have already deployed those solutions in other Tesla police vehicles in California. Notably, Tesla vehicles in recent years are being preferred and adopted by police departments across the US.
The primary reason is that electric vehicles significantly minimize the operation costs as compared to gas-operated vehicles. Furthermore, the Somerset PD was one of the first police departments to opt for Model Y and to utilize it as a police patrol. While, interestingly, as per them, a single Model Y could save $80,000 over 10 years.
